Therapy for Domestic Violence Survivors
What is it like to allow two seemingly conflicting truths to exist at once?
It is not your fault AND
you are not powerless.
Domestic violence is so misunderstood, even by experts in medicine, law, social work, and counseling. It encompasses many forms of abuse, some obvious and others more insidious. Its reach extends to people across the gender spectrum, in every social group, and all income levels. Domestic violence can disturb numerous areas of life and the impacts can be long lasting.
Research shows that patterns of violence in families can spread across generations. Left untreated, the trauma from domestic violence can impact neurobiology, attachment, and epigenetics.
But this does not have to be your future. It is possible to break the cycle. As a therapist working with domestic violence victims, I received specialized training in domestic violence intervention treatment, including types of abuse, types of violence, and victim safety. Our therapeutic work will focus on your needs and move at your pace.
