Therapy for Lawyers, Doctors, & Other High Achievers

Many therapists do not understand what it is like to work as a lawyer, doctor, or other high-achiever. Displays of vulnerability are seen as weaknesses. It is not always possible to say no to unreasonable tasks. The stakes are high and mistakes have serious consequences. Shame runs rampant. There is little time for even basic self care.

Miriam understands these challenges firsthand. She practiced law for over a decade before becoming a therapist and regularly speaks to groups of attorneys and law students on mental health issues facing the legal community. Miriam serves on the Well-Being Task Force of the Washington State Bar Association’s Member Wellness Program and guest lectures to students at the University of Washington School of Law.

In her therapy practice, Miriam works with high achievers to recognize their strengths, normalize their struggles, and explore how to move forward in their careers while honoring their core values.

Areas of treatment can include but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, imposter syndrome, burnout, compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, shame, self blame, boundaries, neurodivergence, perfectionism, procrastination, glass ceilings, discrimination, sleep disruptions, substance abuse, ruminations, intrusive thoughts, overwhelm, relationship challenges, rage-quitting fantasies, and more.
